Abstract

This research was carried out in order to achieve the objectives of the Virtual Reality Project for learning Mathematics (MATHVR UANL), within the framework of the Thematic Network of Academic Bodies "Educational Innovation for Learning Mathematics Mediated with Technology." Research is carried out on methodological innovation, digital literacy and the design of didactic activities in different educational environments. For the mediated learning of surface areas, the use of platforms such as Autodesk 3DMax, Autodesk Maya, BLENDER, CINEMA 4D, among others, was implemented, with planes in angle sections θ=π/3, θ=π/4, θ=π/12 y θ=π/16. The professor can conduct the mathematical argumentation process to increase the number of partitions of the interval from 0 to 2 π by considering the area of the torus as the sum of the tangent planes to each point of the torus. Based on the above, an interactive evaluation of the impact of 3D semiotics is proposed for the development of competencies for the analysis of spatial location and the development of critical thinking at the university level. The study focus is on the torus as an activity for the creation of structured thinking in 3D models and their spatial location, and for visualizing practical applications with a geometric and mathematical foundation. Through a casuistry-experimental design, academic performance is compared based on the visualization skills developed by students in experimental groups. Visual semiotics, spatial cognition, and digital pedagogy are taken as perspectives within the theoretical framework.
